Fun Questions

  • What's your favorite animal and why?

I’m a cat person. Cats are my favourite animal because they are like little, furry humans. They see themselves as our equals and not as anything less.

  • What's the most unusual pet you've ever cared for?

One of the clinics that I worked for would treat all creatures great and small. All manner of farm animals, but also small and exotic pets like bearded dragons, ferrets, hedgehogs, parrots, etc. There were even a couple of wild animals like a baby deer, raccoons, and different kinds of birds.

  • What's your pets name and why did you choose it?

Two of my cats are former-feral bottle-babies. They’re fuzzy and grey, so they are called Patty and Selma, after the twin Aunts from The Simpsons.

Serious Questions

  • What inspired you to work in the industry?

I love animals and people. Working with both is such a privilege. I’ve worked around animals most of my adult life. From pet stores to animal shelters. It was through my time at an animal shelter that I got very familiar with a veterinary hospital. At one point, I was looking for work when they were looking for a receptionist. It is a job that I love to do and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity.

  • What advice would you give to pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?

Feed the best food you can, don’t be lax with parasite control, and if you can, please, get insurance. It will be such a weight off of your mind to know that your pet will be able to get whatever care they need.
