Amanda is a veterinary assistant who has been a part of our team at Vetcetera Animal Hospital since December 2013. She grew up on the South Shore in picturesque Lunenburg. Amanda had a passion for pets from a young age and volunteered at S.H.A.I.D Tree Animal Shelter throughout her childhood. She later did a Katmavik placement at an SPCA in New Brunswick. From that point, she knew she wanted to further her career in animal care. She attended Memorial University and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She started her career with Bide-A-While Animal Shelter and has a vast knowledge of cats and their behaviour. Amanda loves educating new puppy and kitten owners on everyday care to get them started off on the right paw. She is always interested in furthering her knowledge and recently attended a day-long seminar focused on weight loss in pets. Amanda well-versed in many areas of the hospital and is always ready to help clients and pets with a gentle and easy manner.
In her spare time, Amanda also enjoys hiking, surfing, snowboarding and sailing. Currently Amanda resides in Halifax with her wife Christina and her two beloved cats Leonard and Matilda who adopted her during her time at Bide-A-While.
